Located on a quiet Rapenburg, this speakesy-style bar called “Hiding in Plain Sight” lives up to its name. Discreetly marked on the large windows outside, the bar is easy to miss before you spot the rows of bottles inside the bar. Once you get past the heavy velvet curtains in the entrance, you are surrounded in the vintage inspired ambiance. Black leather sofas, chandeliers and printed wallpaper, together with books and piano make the space cozy and comfortable, yet very classy.
The menu is impressively filled with experimental drinks inspired by the latest mixology trends. I ordered Voodoo Child, the mixing was finalized at the table by pouring in the last ingredient in flames. HPS is definitely destination for anyone in Amsterdam looking for creative cocktails with impeccable service, served in a cozy ambiance.
