As you enter the futuristic black and white main room of Karl Lagerfeld’s newest concept store in the Marais the words “modern” and “classic” simultaneously run through your mind. Abiding by the brands mantra, “modern pieces combine with classic accents”, the new Karl Lagerfeld store opens at 25 rue Vieille du Temple in the trendy Marais district of Paris today. Filled with everything from fun tokidoki pieces to amazingly street chic hip hop sneakers, the store is a dynamic mix of high fashion and fluffy accessories. Keeping with the spirit of the neighborhood, the store hits both high and low price points featuring select items from Karl’s ready to wear collection for both men and women, Karl accessories including watches, handbags and eyewear, and an assortment of gifts including design and photography books handpicked by Karl himself.
Lagerfeld’s second concept store to open in Paris this year, the first location is at Saint Germain, functions as both a place for the designer to sell his pieces and a virtual window to seek inspiration from the customers through digital interaction. Perhaps the most innovative aspect of the new location, customers are invited to both browse through Karl’s collections as well as take and post pictures of themselves on social media or for e-mail. Continuing the democratization of fashion movement from many high end designers, Le Marais is perfect for Karl Lagerfeld’s newest location and the store is a must visit this summer. By Porschia Thomas
