tips for san francisco shopping and dining

Here are some places that I gathered during my week in San Francisco for shopping and eating out:

Haight Street: The famous hippie street is full of second hand boutiques, head shops, and various independent boutiques for men's and women's apparel. Wasteland (1660 Haight St) offers nicely curated collection of both second hand and new  garments and accessories.

Downtown: There are all the department stores and chain stores around the Union Square and Market Street.

Sui Generis (2231 & 2265 Market Street) is a fabulous consignment store with two locations, one for ladies and the other for gentlemen. Women's store features a lot of European luxury brands with lower prices. They have a lot of evening wear and cool shoes. The store for men's fashion is even better, they have a great selection of contemporary second hand finds. My man found a wonderful ACNE jacket, and a pair of PRPS jeans, both for great prices.

Firefly (4288 24th St) is a cute little restaurant with amazing food and great atmosphere. I ate healthy and very tasty Seared Yellowtail with Red Quinoa, Avocado, Cucumbers & Charred Herbs, follewed by Fromage Blanc Mousse with Boysenberries, Lemon Marmalade and Buckwheat Crumble.

For classic American burgers, try out Greenburgers (518 Haight St). This restaurant offers sustainably sourced local products, and it's great for vegetarians, as well as for carnivores. I recommend Vegetarian Sloppy Joe with Organic tempeh, sauteed onions, poblano and bell peppers in a tangy chili barbeque sauce, served on a soft roll with of coleslaw.
