Dutch Artist Bart Hess is known for his textures and materials studies which he combines with animation and photographer. In recent years, he has collaborated with such artists as Lady Gaga, Lucy McRae, Nick Knight, and designers Ann Sofie Back and Iris Van Herpen. His most recent sleek new film for Nowness Swimmer Saved is timed perfectly with this summer's Olympics taking inspiration from the aerodynamic forms of Olympic swimmers. Using a two-meter-long metal blade and twenty-eight cans of shaving cream, Hess turns a close shave into an eerie performance piece that exposes itself gradually.
