George Lewis Jr. aka Twin Shadow came back to Paris to reveal his second album "Confess". And all that he wants is to talk about love and make you dance. Dance like 20 years ago, shaking frantically on sharp drumbeats and claps, then moving lasciviously on dreamy waves of synths and powerful guitar solos. From 1980, with love, here is the formula of the Twin Shadow cocktail : catchy sensual melodies, new wave beats and synths, and of course the sexy velvet voice of George. Elegant but never pretentious he seduces the audience quite quickly and stays accessible all a long the concert.
"Five seconds to your heart, straight to your heart” sings George, because he's a lover, a shy crooner, heartbroken and nonchalant: hidden son of Bowie and Prince, born at a Joy Division house party. On a background of blinking city lights, dark street,s and a touch of glitter, Twin Shadow's songs are like sunset roadtrip to the 80's… And the Nouveau Casino seemed quite happy to make the trip. Good show and excellent musicians, something seemed a little bit cold to me though, maybe i should have brought a lover on the dance floor. By Cécilia Bonnet
