Taking inspiration from Cindy Sherman’s clown series, Marc Jacobs’ Resort line plays with proportion and print, presenting a collection that is not afraid to break a few rules. 70’s oversize floral prints, plaids, and polka dots all somehow manage to mesh effortlessly together, along with platform sandals adorned with gumball sized rhinestones.
With shapes being either oversized or shrunken, Jacobs continued to play with the layering ideas he started working on for his own Fall 2012 line, as well as those for Louis Vuitton. His innovative three tier styling consisted of sweatshirts over A-line skirts over flare pants, all enveloped in florals (90’s layering step aside). This fresh take on timeless pieces brings a youthful vibe and playfulness, adding to Jacobs’ assortment of modern classics. by Brittany Thomas
