Listen To: The Vampyre of Time and Memory by Queens Of the Stone Age

QOTSA is back with a new single/video The Vampyre of Time and Memory from their latest brilliant album …Like Clockwork. This track, already one of my favorites on the album, is a surprisingly quiet, yet powerful piano-driven song where elegant Josh Homme gives a great crooner – kind of “Bowiesque” performance.

The music video shows the smart Queens in tuxedos, and Homme like a king vampyre drumming with long white fingernails on a leopard-skin piano, surrounded by stuffed lions. Meanwhile he’s dialoguing, in a sort of Dorian Grey’s plot, with a scary aging woman, all in black who dances along with her spectral maids. All of it set in a “Cabinet of curiosities”/ horror show / James Bond titles kind of strange atmosphere… Freaking intriguing isn’t it?

And there is more, QOTSA become high-tech and unveil another surprise : an interactive version directed by Kii Arens, Jason Trucco and developed by the agency The Creators Project. Pretty well done, try it here.

Or enjoy a live version with a warm glass of red wine below.
