Haute Couture shows are some of the most exclusive in the world, they are meant for clients not press. The collections are also important as many of the dresses will be seen in advertising campaigns for perfumes, cosmetics, gracing the red carpet, and behind closed doors to some of the most high society parties, and weddings in the world. For press like eclectic*, the shows offers us a glimpse at some of the best delicate embroidery, lace, and intricate techniques, a bit like a fashion Olympics where the designers (athletes) can show off their skills and talent. Since Elie Saab began Haute Couture in 2000, every single dress is handmade and has passed through the hands of the designer at his atelier.
For aw12, Elie Saab brings us In Constantinopole's Wake, with Ottoman jeweled motifs infused into the imperial. Ample volumes in silk organza is balances with lace used to create gilded petals against an opulent silhouette while embroidery enhances a slim waist or bare back as tulle, guipure, and lace create layers of transparency.

The color palette included champagne to smoky gray, Elie Saab's favored jewel tones interspersed with peacock blue, powdery pink, jade, and antiqued gold. Orlando Pita created romantic braided up-dos paired with Val Garland's make-up for the ultimate in feminine beauty.
