Fashion Editorial: Kes and Haze by Genoveva Arteaga-Rynn

There is something raw and personal in photographer Genoveva Arteaga-Rynn‘s work capturing sisters Kes and Haze. Relationships are real, full of moments from tender to banal. The sisters invited Genoveva to shoot them in their natural setting, their home. Stylists Sophie Lillie and Alex Foot bring together looks that don’t overshadow the women who wear them, instead balancing the person inside.

Genoveva explains her inspiration for Kes and Haze “My work on siblings has been particularly influenced by two photographers. I discovered Lydia Panas’ work and was immediately struck by its “ordinariness”. Similarly, I wanted explore Kelli Connell’s depiction of ambiguous relationships between siblings: sisters, friends, lovers? Both photographers explore the complexities of relationships in a quotidian context. Working with real sisters brings another depth to my images as they portray a genuine connection that two unrelated models cannot imitate. As a child of mixed New Zealand and Mexican heritage, allowed me to see how different families can be.  Raised on strong family values, instigates my initial interest in families and their relationships.”
