trending: denim glams it up at premiere vision in paris

denim at premiere vision 03

The 10th edition of
Denim by Premiere Vision was the most bustling to date. Denim PV happens twice a year in Paris, made up of the game-changing brands in denim, cutting-edge technologies, the latest in colors, and a peak into the most targeted fashion trends. So of course, we wanted to see what we can expect to be hitting our shelves in the next two years. Some of the most directional trends we saw included bold prints replacing the popularity of bold primaries in recent years, browns look set to replace grays, contrasting color from withing, make space for conductor stripes (feeling  90's), and we are loving the mini prints on display from floral to herringbone. Denim PV meanwhile, was really pushing for the glam, dividing their displays into three themes: eccentric glam, glitter glam, glam and raw. Next year we will request "eclectic* glam".

We caught up with Trend Consultant Erin Burke of Louver Studio to talk jeans. "Coatings are getting much better, high shine but lighter weight than we've seen in previous seasons, resist prints in micro scale were a nice throw back to vintage Japanese styles. It was nice to see a lot of herringbone denim, especially used in shirtings with localized abraison, pushing these heritage looks forward" commented Erin on some of the show's highlights, she continued  "Trouser-like styles with heathered yarns on the inside and coatings to look suede with local abrasion down to the denim also had a strong mens wear/heritage appeal. Color of course was everywhere and we're still seeing a lot of metallic like coatings and shine."

Already looking forward for next fall's hits!
