Upon reviewing some of the key looks for Fall 2013, designers are calling on us ladies to dress femininely but, in the words of Jessie J, to “do it like a dude”.  As the girls of Antonio Marras, Christopher Kane, Stella McCartney, Haider Ackerman and Prada walked down the aw13/14 runways the message was clear: do it like a dude or go home. After years of enough flimsy bohemian chiffons, sequins and metallics to make even Nicole Richie want to give up her bohemian thrown, the designers wanted to give us something textured to hold on to.  Read more

Serbian fashion designer George Styler is one to watch! We caught up with the emerging fashion designer after his exhibition L'Impossible at the International Fashion Showcase Serbia 2013 during  London Fashion Week aw13. Following up his debut collection Captivity, last year at Perwoll Fashion Week in Belgrade, is his Fall Winter 2013/14 collection CaptivityII, a continutation of the designer's exploration in ethnic elements with punk attitude along with lighter silhouettes. While his collection borders conceptual, his masterful technique draws together both RTW and Haute Couture. Read more

Amaya Arzuaga autumn winter 2013/14

Drenched in rigid wool and cashmere textures, long black silhouettes glided down the Amaya Arzuaga AW 13 runway this season. Walking to the slow rhythm of dark and eerie piano music, the show had a statuesque seriousness that is uncharacteristic of the designer’s former collections. Read more

Images from Lie Sang Bong Fall Winter 2013

Steps away from the Eiffel Tower, a Mecca for contemporary art and my personal favourite museum in Paris, I do not think that there was a better location for Lie Sang Bong to show his A/W 2013 collection than the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The words “London Cool” could not escape my thoughts as the models walked down the runway in structural black, white and florescent blue outfits with white paint combed into their Elvis Presley worthy combovers. As the curtains closed on the AW 2013 Paris Fashion Week we both wept and cheered for Elie Saab’s Fall collection. To say Saab’s collection is 1970s inspired would be an understatement.  With rich clouds of smoke and dramatic classical music marking the first steps for the Elie Saab models you literally felt like you were brought into a different era of extreme glamour and feminine mystique. Perhaps drawing from the same film noir inspiration we saw from Prada in Milan, the smoke and mirrors gimmick definitely worked. Read more

Bold patterns, bright colors and rich embellishments - these are the elements one can expect to see at a Manish Arora show, and for his Aw2013/14 collection he certainly didn't disappoint. There was so much eye candy I wasn't quite sure where to look amid the peplum tops, coats with trim fur, extravagant jewels and feminine knits, but one thing is for sure, it's one collection not easily forgotten. The collection started off with a somber palette of  black and white - and then a burst of deep red dominated the show.  An avantgarde mix of bold geometrics, subtle stripes, mixed textures and asymmetrical cuts added structure and a modern elegance to each look. For AW2013/14, Luis Buchinho tells the story of the revolution and rebellion, a collection reflecting the "Carnation Revolution" that took place in his home country Portugal on April 25th, 1974.
