For Spring Summer 2013, we are looking at different directions to channel our inner queens from around the world. Italian stylist Manuela Mezzetti along with Make-up artist Barbara Montanari have created different looks drawing on some of the directional beauty trends of the season from aqua hued blues, statement colors, bold primaries, pewter touches, along with sci-fi and tribal references in her editorial G(o)od Save The Queen. Meanwhile, hair colors are bold and solid with electric blue, pale platinum, and Elizabeth the First's striking red locks.

Here are a few of snaps taken during the Paris Fashion Week. I think these ladies represent quite well what  hairstyles are trending at the moment.

Classic bob cut, with either side parting or blunt fringe

Colorwise, pastels are still going strong  as well as the ombré color

"We contrasted the restraint of the front section with an undercurrent of imperfection at the back that was inspired by the gothic, grungier feel of Helena Bonham Carter," Marc explained.

Backstage Marc used the CharlesWorthington Salon at Home Split Ends Binder that won't be out until this June, for a crisp centre part that kissed the tops of the ears. Adding a textured ponytail, he twisted it into a tousled knot then left the tips of the hair to make a bid for freedom in a style perfectly suited to the aw13 woman who wants to hint at her inner femme fatale.

The Nape Knot

Get the look:

1. Create a centre part and using Front Row Big Hair Volume Mousse, smooth the hair back into a very low ponytail on the nape of the neck.

2. Contrasting the severity of the front section, massage the new Salon at Home Split Ends Binder (RRP £5.99 Out June 2013) into the tail of the pony to create a textured, backcombed effect.

3. Twist the length of the tail before wrapping it around the base of the pony to create a knot.

4. Secure the knot with pins, allowing the tips to escape out to one side.

5. Use the palm of your hand to gently massage the knot and allow flyaway strandsto escape.

6. Spray a touch of the Charles Worthington Front Row Forever Lasting Hairspray onto your fingertips then use them to smooth the hair at the parting.

The early 90's and late 60's are having a hair moment. While Vidal Sasson invented the sleek bob, the 90's re-invented it with choppy edges. Bangs are full in the 60's and side swept in the 90's. Balancing the two eras can give an air of relaxed, low-key cool to some the most iconic styles, the key is apply "bed head" even to the most polished of coiffes. Step into the trends sweeping hair for Spring 2013.

Beehiven!

The beehive is one look that is popping up in many places from singers like Lana Del Rey and the heroines in the latest Hitchcock bio film. Louis Vuitton may look dainty like a doll, but Vera Wang surprises us with what can only be described as a "birdsnest" with some 90's dreads mixed in. Marc Jacob adds extra volume at the top while bright pink streaks gives a punk you! attitude at Oscar de la Renta.

90's Cool:

Before Kim Kardashian, there was a generation of Sassy readers who wanted to be like Kim Deal and listened to Riot Grrrl while snubbing top 100. High maintenance is out at Dries van Noten which is showing their grunge roots. Low key cool of the 90's girl is in at Chloé while at Bottega Veneta a bit of grease and grime keeps the disheveled pony in place.

Accessories:

Accessories create an instant impact from emulating pop divas like Madonna at Jean Paul Gaultier with an exaggerated bow to refined millinery at Giorgio Armani. Holiday prints set the seasonal mood at Dolce & Gabbana. Similarly inspired at Marc by Marc Jacobs goes for a Caribbean-style wrap.

Bang!Bang!

Its all about faking it. Karen Walker opted for the 60's inspired heavy faux fring clip-in while Cacharel added choppy edges à la 90's icon Juliette Lewis. Famed hairstylist Guido Palau at Prada, created makshift fringe by twisting the ends of the hair over the forehead. I think we can all admit trying that in order to see if fringe suits us, but now we can leave the house like that too (well, at least in Milan maybe).

Low Bun:

Last season's top bun has become this season's low bun. From the front it looks more or less conservative but from the back your real personality at the moment can shine. From conservative housewife at Ralph Lauren to frazzled at Chanel. Strict and sexy at Gucci to ne porte a quoi at Marni (this works at surprising places, thus why Parisians can get away with it and Portlandiers can't).

Chin's the Limit:

Once you go bob you never go back, that is if you nailed it the first time. The trick of the season is to leave your straightners at bay and go for texture for added volume as seen at Giles. The face framing chin length bob is your ultimate 90's accessory. You can part it down the middle or on the side, but whatever you do, don't use a comb!

Feeling Jerry:

Jerry Hall that is. Her long thick blonde hair is coveted once again. She is just too cool: one of Helmut Newton's favourite models, friends with Andy Warhol, roommate with Grace Jones, girlfriend of Bryan Ferry and Mick Jagger.The least we can do is aspire to her lusicious locks that are making a comeback. Sleek is for evenings at Studio 54, dishelved is for the day at your Texan farm. This is an alternative to all of you girls who aren't rocking the bob. For those of you who aren't blonde, just add a bit of sunkiss! 

Kool Aid Kids:

Think ravers, cyber-punk, and Run Lola Run. I dyed my hair green and blue in the 90's, everyone knew I used Kool Aid thanks to my blue and green hands. Luckily, we have colorful hair pieces, extensions, instant spray, and hair shadow these days. You can go for bold like Jean Paul Gaultier or you can go for faded like Charlotte Ronson, the point is, this season is your chance to try color and not be shy. Experiment with pretty pastels or neons.

Rich Bitch:

You know who I am talking about, the aspirational aristocrat or bourgeoisie Queen bee, even Kate Middleton dosen't wear her hair so slick in fear of looking cold, but you can. These women can also look strong, think Helmut Newton. Odile Gilbert at Jason Wu explained "Expensive and elegant, but not vulgar, updos with a masculine side and feminine side."

Textured Contrast:

If you don't remember greasy roots in the 90's, you were in a good place, but this time around they aren't reserved for female bassists in a Sub Pop band, they are for us fashion geeks to have a go at. Its like last season's "wet look" didn't make it, so we had to compromise. If you can't meet in the middle, other options for the season are the dry finish or glossy varnish.

Top Volume:

We all know that Jean Paul Gaultier was making reference to Grace Jones, but we can't help but remember the hi-tops of Kid 'n Play. Tracy Reese plays it cool showing off the undercut, while Ruffian was what one fashionista described as "business in the back, party in the front", sounds like a faux mullet to me, but I can try it for one night out.

The last place you would expect to find a beauty trend is at an American football game, but this is the Superbowl and we are talking about Beyoncé. Everyone know that the 'lipstick index' has been replaced with the 'nail index', but with so many colours out there it is hard to tell which is one is nailing it at the moment. Celebrity nail stylist Lisa Logan created the nail styles for Beyoncé and her backup dancers at the Superbowl halftime extravaganza.

“As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I began working on creating super long nail tips covered with the Gold and Matte Gold Chevron Minx that would be worn by the backup dancers,” explained Lisa.  “The process was very time consuming because the nails were going to be used in the holographic segment where it looks like Beyoncé has multiple arms (see screen shot attached), so all the dancers had to be wearing the same design.  And, because the nails were so long, I needed to use two Minx templates to cover each tip.”

There is some new technology out there making waves in nails as Minx is the only patented heat-activated solid nail coating, Lisa explained that the nail coating literally conforms to the actual shape of the nail, and can last up to two weeks on the fingers and six weeks on the toes.

It's time to take a look at the most prominent beauty looks from Spring/Summer 2013 runway season. We've compiled our six favorite trends below:

BIG LASHES

Long and dramatic lashes look wonderful with nude make-up, as seen at Gucci and Véronique Leroy. Buffed, flawless skin pairs the dramatic lashes perfectly. At Ashish the lashes were made-up with purple color in a slightly messy way. At Jean Paul Gaultier and Gucci the lashes are feathery and groomed to perfection.

GLOWING COPPER

Copper is back for this summer. This very flattering metallic comes in a variety of hues. At Alberta Ferretti and Max Mara well blended copper eye shadow is paired with fresh looking skin for the ultimate summer look. Add a black liner, like at Louis Vuitton, to add definition to sophisticated and subtle evening look.

SILVER STREAK

Silver is another metallic that made frequent appearances at the runway. At Chanel, shiny silver eye shadow is blended up to the brow and finished with dark liner and mascar. Models at Jean Charles de Castelbajac show off the silver version of the cat eye look. Issey Miyake and Derek Lam present eyes that are subtly dusted with silvery eye shadow.

COLORFUL LINER

From solid magenta liner seen at Donna Karan to more subtle liner at Stella McCartney, playful colors are dominating the catwalk this season. Paired with fresh skin and natural lips, this look is easy to adapt to suit everyone.

TROPICAL TURQUOISE

There are plenty of shades of tropical aqua seen at the runway this season. Blue eye shadow may bring in mind bad flashbacks from the 80's, but this time around, turquoise is done in a modern way. This look can be soft and feminine, as seen at Monique Lhuillier and Clements Ribeiro, or it can make a bold statement, as seen at Gaultier and Antoni & Alison.

DRAMATIC CAT EYE

Cat eye is a classic look that flatters most women. This season the cat eye look has taken a turn to the dramatic side. From Dior's embellished, fairytale look to bold liners seen at Anna Sui and Jean-Pierre Braganza, this look can be customized to suit any evening occasion.

Make-up by Elise Ducrot and hair by Jonathan Geimon fit the collection entitled The Birds of Eden. For owl inspired eyes,  Ducrot created a shadowy bridge by adding dark inner shadow to the sides of the upper nose set against a flawless complexion for a look that was both strong and subtle. Geimon created textured contrast with the tresses by softly slicking down the hair at the roots and curled volume from the ends up, for a look that compliments Serkan Cura's signature oversized structures.

Kimberly Ovitz Spring/Summer 2013

We spotted fishtail textured plaits on the runway for spring summer 2013. Leading the hair trend was Tory Burch and Kimberly Ovitz. Earlier this year we saw Diane Kruger sporting the trend in Cannes and recently Beyonce wore an exaggerated edgy interpretation of a braid up-do on 5th Avenue. While we may be going braid crazy, it can be a difficult trend to pull off unless you have some friends over to braid each others hair. In addition to the fishtail, vintage twists and flared-out plaits are the current craze and are possible with the launch of the Braid Bar in London.

FOUR London is opening the Braid Bar at their Mayfair Salon in Conduit Street with braid styles for all seasons and if you have recently chopped off some of your locks, they will fake it for you. Behind the Braid Bar are Hair Architects Neha and Amy who will be offering  an Express Service for those who need a "quick braid turn-around in their lunch break". Fitting with holiday seasons and parties ahead, accessories can be entwined within the braid on request: diamante, feathers and lace being the most popular. Make sure to call ahead for an appointment because this new bar is hot!

Try a basic Fishtail Braid at home:

1. Part the hair into two even sections, on each side of the head creating four all together with a part down the middle for pigtails

2. Select a small strand from one section (it works better if you take one from underneath so you can wrap it around thoroughly), and wrap it around the entire section. (Make sure your pieces aren’t too thick; fishtail braids need to be delicate to look right)

3. Repeat with the other section of hair

4. Do the same steps on each side, until you’re finished

5. Softly pull at the edges to widen the braid and to get some fuzziness around, for a naturally worn-in look

6. Do it all over again on the other side, have fun!

We've seen several strong color statements on nails, but nothing looks as fresh as white which can be bold, modern, sleek, and minimalistic. While bone, peach, and creamy grays make great neutral colors , it doesn't quite make the bold statement like a clinical white. As texture also takes center stage, you can keep it clean against a a white base coat. For a perfectly opaque look make sure to use at least three smooth coats. So ditch your French manicures, but keep the white as a season staple and just like the TipEx in your office drawer.
